"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."
Our founding fathers put this amendment in the Bill of Rights for one reason. To keep the government in fear of the people. Because "when the people fear the government there is tyranny, when the government fears the people there is liberty." What does that mean for us? That every law abiding, morally upstanding American citizen should own guns! At least one. Not only should you own them, but you should go shooting as often as possible. Know the guns you own, maintain them, and use them safely and correctly. Only we the people can defend liberty from destruction by an out of control government.
Now some would argue that it says "a well regulated Militia" and that individual citizens are exempt from this protection. Not true because a Militia is just a group of ordinary citizens who have organized into a group in order to defend their homes, families, and freedoms. This means that every gun owning citizen is a Militia member, even if they aren't actively doing so, like some people are. Why? Because at any time they are ready to defend their freedom, family, and home from any dangers whether that be a robber breaking in or government "officials".
We all as American citizens should own guns. I do, so should you.
