Independence Day
The 4th of July, Independence Day. To most it is a chance to eat barbecue and watch fireworks and I won't say that I don't enjoy those things on the 4th. However this 4th of July take a moment to look back and reflect on the great step into the unknown our founding fathers made when they signed the Declaration of Independence. Nothing like it had ever been written before, it was the most radical document ever to have been written at that point. They ended the Declaration by saying "we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor." And then they signed it. No modern politician would sign a document that said that at the bottom, not a single one of them would pledge their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor (if they have any left). Our founding fathers signed a document separating themselves from the oppression of Great Britain knowing full well that it could mean death for all of them and their families. Remember these men and those that fought and died on the field of battle to create this great nation, the greatest and freest nation ever in the history of Mankind. Remember what it cost for you to have the freedom to have a barbecue, watch fireworks, and speak freely with friends and family without fear. But also remember that it is your duty as a citizen to preserve what they fought for. Have a Happy Independence Day, God Bless America and Long Live the Republic.
